Masada

Pronounced Mit sada. King Herod had it built as a" gettaway" in case his life was in danger. During the Maccabees, the Jewish people that were holed up here would have lasted a very long time. All their food had been imported from Italy!!
The Romans that were sent to take them out of there tried to wait them out for a while, then realized they could be waiting several years, so they built a road and broke in. But by that time everyone was dead except an elderly Grandmother and several children that she had hidden away. She was the only one left to tell the Soldiers what had happened.
