24 miles in all weather!

Those who have followed my postings for a while will know that I have gobe through somewhat of a transformation from January 2013 to now. I decided I was going to lose a little bit of weight - I wanted to be 'normal' on the BMI Index - I achieved that back in September last year and I have subsequently kept it off. At the end of November some colleagues from the day job asked if I was interested in attempting the Caledonian Challenge which I had tried to do previously but failed due to my crappy body at the time - I felt in a much better place physically so I agreed and so the training has been going on for a few months now.

Today we headed out to do a 19 mile walk from Comrie to Loch Freuchie which heads through a series of Glens, including this one, Glen Lednock. As you can see the views were stunning but the adventure was quite intense. About 7 miles in the route told us to cross a small ford - easy if the Snow Melt hadn't increased the water levels so much that we needed to make a lengthy detour to cross the river. Just after this photo was taken we came into snow drifts where all of us dropped into drifts that came to waist height and where it wasn't snow it was boggy heather - extremely hard to walk on!

After about 8 hours of walking though, we got to the end point and it felt great. If we can do this walk as a group 13 weeks out from the main event then I am confident that we are all going to be successful in walking 54 miles over much easier terrain in June.
