Mephitic
me·phit·ic
[muh-fit-ik]
adjective
1. offensive to the smell.
2. noxious; pestilential; poisonous.
I can see you scratching your head, and thinking I’ve obviously become addled and put the wrong image with today’s challenge word, but fear not -- I haven’t.
Something must have been a little miswired in the nasal department when I was developing as an embryo, because to me the smell of blueberries is absolutely, positively repellent. I catch a whiff of those innocent-looking indigo orbs, and wonder why otherwise perfectly rational, sensible people would ever consider popping such malodorous fruit into their mouths. To my hypersensitive nostrils, that smell screams “Run! Run away! Save yourself!” Noxious and pestilential indeed.
