Sgwarnog: In the Field

Comma

Hopefully you're not bored of butterfly blips already as their reemergence is claiming much of my attention at the moment.

A quick circuit of campus of lunchtime revealed that butterfly season was underway there too, with six Small Tortoiseshells and this single Comma. For comparison, my first campus butterfly last year was April 26th; Small Tortoiseshells in exactly the same spot that today's were observed.

If you haven't yet learned why these are called Comma, check out my photograph of one with wings closed yesterday, where the small white comma shaped mark is visible.
