St Mary's Chapel

What a wonderful day of sunshine, I did also get caught in two light showers but they didn't last :)

Day off today after working in the museum over the weekend. I was up early and took advantage of the fine morning by getting two loads of washing hung out on the line and dry coming in :)
In the afternoon, I headed out west with friend Brian and Sammy dog. I ended up going to Sand. Loads to see in Sand and a lovely garden open to the public. Today we headed to see the old ruins of a chapel and chatted with some locals on the way :)

This is the remains of St Mary's chapel. Built in the 12th century and still in use after Shetland turned protestant in the 1500s and used up to the 1760s. Would have been great to see complete and still in use, with it's thatch roof.
