March 10th 2009 - Shower time in the Banos
I woke up con a poco de chuchaqui from the night before but with a quiet day ahead. After breakfast Josefine, Chloe and I went shopping for pizza burger ingredients and a theme for the day was set – Chloe and I barely spoke. When we were back at the hostel we started preparing some of the food, although we were not cooking until the following day.
We had Spanish lessons this afternoon with our teacher form Quito, Daniel, back to take our lessons, which was great as his lessons are not too serious and we could relax a lot more. During a break I realised the Champions League was on and so me and Soren watched the ends of the Liverpool and Chelsea matches. Tea was made by Mia, Louise and Sally tonight and was delicious (well except for a couple of undercooked pizzas where the oven was to blame). The vegetarian pizza with walnuts was especially good as was the mishke mishke marble cake for dessert.
Most of the group went to the hot springs after tea although I personally thought they would be hotter. The main bath felt like your average hot bath at home – just with more half naked people, greener water and a little steam to add to the ‘swamp-like’ feel of the place. Personally I thought the best part was actually cold water fresh from the mountains, standing under the waterfall was lush (as you can see from my blip!).
Things had got worse with Chloe today, there had been practically no conversation between the two of us and so I spoke to a couple of the group who did agree that things had probably run its course – for us both to enjoy the trip more it would be better for us to end it. It also served as a warning for a couple of them who were some of Chloe’s closer friends on the trip as tomorrow seemed to be the day as Chloe had gone to bed early that night.
