Bright
A beautifully bright and calm day.
Walking around a nearby headland it was so peaceful that it reminded me to be grateful for of one of the joys of living here - the quiet. We have no traffic noise (or traffic!), the planes are so high by the time they reach us that we don't hear them and apart from a digger in the distance today, the only sounds were the waves against the rocks, bird-song and some distant chatter echoing across the water from two guys fishing out in the bay.
Other than that, today I have been creating digital maps for Herself's book. Mapping is a fascinating art with its own set of rules and procedures and in drawing a map one realises how artificial they actually are. A road on the coast has to be positioned slightly off its true position to avoid it being seen as in the sea; roads and pathways have to be widened to read correctly and symbols made meaningful. It's information design at its best and I enjoy it a immensely.
