Millenium Sign National Cycle Network Route 1

The sign used to be black with the lettering in gold. It has recently been repainted blue with white lettering used on all cycle network signs. (although relying on blue signs with white lettering as an indicator as a cycle path doesn't really work on a motorway)

I use the path daily to get to / from work and the bit up to Burnshot when cycling to Fife or West Lothian. If you are cycling north, e.g. to Fife, it is a nice route until you hit the A90 and you have to cycle next to a busy road, so I avoid that bit. But generally it is a nice piece of cycle path.

The National Cycle Network Route 1 connects Dover in Kent with the Shetland Isles in the north, although I presume you may need to catch a ferry to get to the latter. :-)

The sign shows that it is 4 miles to Leith from here if you take the path signed Craigleith. That's the direct road route. If you head north, you can explore North Edinburgh, and take the long route to Leith via a 7 mile cycle path, no traffic and no traffic lights.
