'No Prizes....'
...For Guessing where I was today.
Thanks to everyone for the great response to yesterdays Venus Bay blip.
Tonight was musical instrument night up at the school where interested students (and their parents) could go along to see the school concert band play a few tunes and go through each instruments pro's and con's and then let the students pick their instrument of choice.
The Boy Magician's first choice was the clarinet, followed by trumpet and then Alto Sax. They also had Michael who brought in the full range of instruments from his music shop to let the children hold too check if it was suitable for their size mainly. Michaels first reaction was that Dylan's fingertips might be too small to cover the holes on the clarinet, but advised that he should arrange to have a play of one of the school instruments first to see how he goes with it.
Also it seems that a Cornet might be a better option at this stage than a trumpet due to it's smaller size and lighter weight. The fingering is exactly the same for both so an easy transition if he wants to move up to a trumpet in future.
Now it's up to Sandra the music co ordinator to go through everyone's preferences and make sure that we get a balanced concert band happening in terms of instrument types and numbers. We don't want to end up with 9 flutists, one sax and 15 percussionists do we...
We'll have to wait and see what he ends up with.
