Yours for $12,900!

This house has been abandoned for years. We actually made an offer for it back in 2007 for $25,900. It got rejected for whatever reason; the owner had died, and there was no real rush to get it through probate when the offer was so 'low'.

And in the last few days a for sale by owner, with seller financing, appeared and is offering it for $12,900. Which I'm told is about $5k on the high side.

We won't go for it, but I was complicit in getting it back on the market. You see, round here there are ordinances that prohibit these buildings and yards getting to this state. You cannot simply have trash in your garden, or overgrown yards, etc, as it's just a breeding ground for bugs and rats.

So about a year ago, I started calling code enforcement on this house. The owners live about 600 miles away and can't be bothered to keep the garden down, it affects our house several doors down because who wants to see this house the moment they come into the neighbourhood?

And finally, after getting several fines from the county, the family have decided to do something about it. Apparently when code enforcement called them several months ago the guy who answered the phone wanted nothing to do with the property.

Apparently they do now.
