Amber Road

"...
But were it told to me - Today-
That I might have the sky
For mine - I tell you that my Heart
Would split, for size of me -
...

The Motions of the Dipping Birds -
The Morning's Amber Road -
For mine - to look at when I liked -
The News would strike me dead -
..."
- Emily Dickinson

The commentary on this poem reminds us that Lent is about seeing things in a different perspective, or taking time to notice what we often pass over.

Seeing the immense beauty in the natural world around us is one thing, but "to apprehend the beauty and terrifying power of God" through His presence in His creation is a step further in.

This photo was actually taken at sunset, so it's not technically "The Morning's Amber Road" but as it was our day off I wasn't up early enough to catch the sunrise! That is D's silhouette on the bridge at McCormick Park near our house.
