Firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus)

My good friend Unique & Lovely brought in some Firebugs which she thought I might like to photograph and this is the result of several go's!

A Firebug is a Plant Bug that is normally very common on the European mainland. In recent years they have become established in a few mainly southern parts of the UK, but overall they are classed as rare here. This example will be released back where he was found after earlier photography. The markings and the bright red make this small insect stand out as something quite exciting to see and certainly very colourful.
