A glittering of Goldeneye
Another putative collective noun. Goldeneye are always incredibly dapper birds - a duck with a sort of white tie look. This pair were on the road side loch on the way to my Baleshare walk this morning.
Certainly Spring is in the air - the Lapwings are all displaying energetically and loudly and suddenly Black-Headed Gulls and Pied Wagtails have appeared everywhere from being totally absent less than a week ago.
This is still some winter about though - a Glaucous Gull was still on the beach and there was a Snow Bunting in the Twite flock at the road end.
A fascinating time of year between seasons but the promise of the warmth of Summer was there for almost the first time today. Long way it last!
