dispelling shadows

Although, according to most sites that come up on a google search, it seems that this is generally used in terms of a lamp, I have chosen my way of dispelling shadows (or lightening darker areas anyway) and softening the light to make shadows softer. Part of my collection of reflectors and diffusers, with white, gold, silver (but reflecting the colours around it, so that it looks more gold than the gold one) and a diffuser.
