Plucky Volunteer

Back in the winter I blipped a tiny self-sown poppy plant that had come up beside the path to the the herb garden. It was not a convenient position, but I decided to keep it. I had to put a stake in beside it to protect it from the line trimmer.

Because of its position behind the raised thyme bed it received no sunshine in its first three months. Even now it gets only and hour or two early morning and late afternoon. I promised to show how it did, and here it is. The plucky little thing has pushed its flowering stem up two feet to clear the wall and the thyme. Hasn't it done well?

I'd like to dedicate this poppy to all you blippers who are experiencing those short, short days.

The flower and bud look good in large version. You might like the showy poppy from last year.

A wind warning was issued for my area for this afternoon. They weren't kidding...
