Suraiya - amazing woman.
Had a great day tour today with Paula from Detours, I've got loads of photos to go through but I thought I'd post this one up. This is Paula on the left and an amazing lady by the name of Suraiya who runs a traditional weaves and crafts factory in Hyderabad.
Suraiya is a warm, and very lovely person and she helps out local children who have nothing and no prospects by taking them into her textile school, passing them through exams with a 90% A grade pass rate, giving them prospects and hope, amazing she deserves so much accolade for her work.
The textiles on display were also amazing. I bought three stoles which were silly cheap prices (to a Brit) considering each one takes 1-2 days to weave by hand!
She is an inspirational woman and everyone calls her aunty. After chatting to her for a few minutes I wanted to call her aunty too, she is so loveable. If anyone is in Hyderabad, take time to visit her weaves and crafts factory/store 1-86 Darga Hussain Shah Wali Raiburg, Safrani Memorial school premises.
