The Handsome Spire

This spire and tower of the 13th century St. Mary's Church in Rushden are at at height of 164 feet. They were last repaired in 1953 when the town came together to donate money towards the Church Spire Fund. There are some interesting details here about this appeal to repair the spire and how a local woman gave her family's treasured golden watch towards the Spire Restoration Fund.

This church is in the centre of our town and I had recently blipped a window of this Church and had mentioned how the view of the spire from a distance is a sign for me that I am almost home.

The spire was proudly basking in the morning sunshine today when I took this photo.
