Hi there!
The trumpeter swans seem to like people at this time of year, because they have been fed by the wonderful volunteers all winter. I went back to the marina to see the swans today and was walking in among them for quite some time. They were very calm, although when sometime caught their attention they were quite noisy. Mostly, however, they were just chilling out, literally and figuratively, on the snow and ice. A few found some sun-warmed patches on large stones and pavement. This one seemed to be checking me out to see if I had any food.
In the background in this photo there are some light brown swans. They are juvenile trumpeters, last year's young, and are called cygnets. When mature, they will be as white and large as their parents. Even the cygnets make the Canada geese appear small.
