Doha Days

Imagine Terminal Five at Heathrow without all the shops and no planes and you would be well on your way to appreciating the size of the Doha International Equestrian indoor arena. The outside arena is even bigger but did not have air con! We enjoyed world class competitors in both arenas - indoor for dressage and outdoor for show jumping. Day admission ticket was under £6. The really funny thing about today was that we drove to the nearby Qatari Equestrian Club with its opulent clubhouse and floodlit arenas only to find it was all closed. This event was happening in sight of our villa in a brand new complex that has been built as part of Doha's Education City. If you click here you will see the outdoor arena as blipped by Tiggy!

My blip was taken at the end of the dressage with the top three riders being presented to the sponsor. The winner was from Switzerland and GB came third. The lady in black was part of the official photo team and had a mega lensed camera semi concealed in her abaya.
