Fraxinus Exelsior. This single mature ash tree stands sentinel at the top of the lane. It looked impressive this evening silhouetted against the setting sun.

There are thought to be over 12 million ash trees in Britain, in addition to those growing in woods and forests. All are now threatened by the spread of ash dieback.
