Thames Estuary
This is where I grew up and this beach is where I learned to swim, when the tide was in, of course! Today we had to visit family but I was able to escape for a short time onto the beach where the tide is going out and looking across the Estuary to Kent. The small dark blob in the middle is a Mulberry harbour which was developed by the British in World War II to help the offloading of cargo onto the beaches during the Allied invasion of Normandy. This one sunk and has been there for 70 years so isn't going far.
