Common Frog

Felt a good deal better today so went with the HG on the club walk. Weather was a bit wet as we left our town, but as we headed south it improved and when we reached Traquair it was dry, although not sunny. However, the sun did try to show itself as we headed up by the Fingland Burn to Camp Shiel, a very pleasant walk along the river and then a narrow path to join a landrover track which took us up through the forest to Cador Bank.

Our highest point on our seven mile walk was at about 1,000 ft. when we passed the junction going up to the Cheesewell and the Minchmoor, a walk we have done many a time. But not today. It was very windy, so much so that it just about knocked us off our feet at times. We had very pleasant views looking down to Innerleithen and the River Tweed and to Traquair in the distance too. From there a pleasant downhill walk out to Walkerburn where our coach was waiting.

While on the track we came upon this little frog trying hard to cross the track; he froze when we surrounded him, but we meant him no harm, and only took pictures before watching him hop over the track on his way to wherever he was heading. Lots of frog spawn in the ditches and burns today too.

After changing out of our walking gear we headed to Peebles; we always enjoy our time in Peebles, a lovely border town, and we walked up the busy main street to our chosen hostelry and had a few drinks while watching Scotland's rugby team lose to Wales, the only downside in our day. Did they ever get beaten well too!!!

Ach well, you have to be tough to support Scotland!!!!
