Day Trip to Whiddy Island

My plan was to continue working in the garden today but a phone call from freespiral inviting me to to join them on a guided walk on Whiddy Island changed my mind. I had not visited the Island before although I drive past it every time I o into Bantry.
The ferry must have taken less than 10 minutes, then we set off for the six mile hike around the Island with our guide the local publican! The sun shone, the company was good and I love a good explore of somewhere different. Our guide had a few good tales to tell about his days spent at the Island school, now sadly closed down. We finished the walk at the pub for some welcome refreshments, a great day!
