Bon bons 72/365
Growing up on the south east coast of England, France was 21 miles across the channel and it was perfectly normal for people to go there on their holidays or even just for the day. I have many memories of people coming back from these trips with a token bag of these for the class. They probably cost around 10francs and happily sugar charged a school class for an afternoon.
One visit home I bought a packet for 'the office' in Sydney. I decided I needed to expand their European palette from Cadburys and Wotsits. The Bon bons were a hit! When I visited at Christmas I bought another couple of packets for the office. Not sure why but they were put on top of the fridge while I was unpacking and never moved. I found them this week and never have a team been so happy for a $2 investment plus air miles. So began the chat about Europe and how unbelievable that we can visit just for lunch.
When 5 hours after take off for a trip home and I am still in Australia, I can sympathise why lunch in France just can't seem possible.
