Erwin's table
A bit of an odd photo for today. I wouldn't normally take a pic like this but it has real sentimental value
Today was the day we celebrated the life of my godfather - Uncle Erwin. He was a true gentleman.
The items were placed out on display by his beautiful grand daughters for everyone who returned from his funeral. could view and share memories with others . The photos dated back decades and evoked a lot of conversation between the generations of "who's that?", "cor, did you wear clothes like that?!"
Uncle Erwin was a brilliant uncle, gentle nature, exceptionally well mannered and generous and a very modest bloke. He joined the RAF in the 2nd World War and was involved on many a trip across Europe working as a navigator. Of all the 105 crew members he worked with within his squadron, only 7 made it back, of which he was one. As a result he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal DFC
A true hero
My cousin and her family did him proud with such a lovely and personal farewell
The final gift he left us was the fact that as a group of cousins, we had never been together for decades and today we were nearly all there. Promises were made to keep in touch, and this time I really know we will
Will miss him lots x
