Worn
Worn down. Worn out. Resistance is futile. Computer says no, no, maybe, yes, no, later etc. . I know that everyone reading this will have had similar experiences with t'internet/phone companies.
WordPress says:
As of March 12th, WordPress.com is being blocked for TalkTalk, Sky, and BT Care users. This is the result of WordPress.com being listed on an advisory list with the Internet Watch Foundation. As a result, users of these services will likely have issues accessing their WordPress.com Dashboard. We are in correspondence with the IWF and are attempting to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Part of the frustration has been that because of the block those affected (like me) couldn't get near enough to the forums on WP to figure out what was going on, or to communicate with WP.
Troubled by that phrase "as quickly as possible" I've been looking into resurrecting an old Virgin dongle (sounds obscene, I know) just for the blog. Had some lovely conversations with people in the Philippines. Getting closer all the time (I feel). They have managed to send me an email confirming the dongle is viable. Rhea (employee number 4189) hopes that I will be connected by 6.00pm tonight. I know she means well but I have my doubts.
Having wept and wailed, thrown myself at the problem from every angle for the last four days the breakthrough to hilarity (possibly hysteria) came when I stopped hoping that promises would be fulfilled. No-one is actually in control of any of this. We all just bumble along doing the best we can, trying to communicate, trying to make the systems work, trying to stay sane.
We're in a brave new world where aeroplanes can disappear off the face of the earth, every piece of computer related equipment refuses to function, then miraculously comes back to life after each item is unplugged all the wires straightened out and everything is restarted. Then, randomly (it seems) the printer screeches to a halt and refuses to budge, wailing like a banshee at each attempt to turn it on.
These were my stars for today
Somewhere in your world, there's a 'fog factory'. Everything makes sense until suddenly, a certain person gets hold of the topic - or it all has to be considered in the light of some baffling matter. What is this factor? Who is this person? How are the two connected to each other - and to you? Must you be subjected to so much complication and uncertainty? Are you learning an important lesson or being punished for some unwitting transgression? Or are you just taking too seriously, something you ought to relax about?
Good questions,. Personally I'm longing for a fountain pen, an inkwell and blotting paper. But then I wouldn't have kind people reading these ramblings. And that would be such a loss. Wish me luck.
