If you can't beat them...

Reminders of the past.

A busy day with a friend coming round to help with the cutting up of some old garden furniture and removal of apiece of indoor furniture. As a result there were no opportunities for exciting outdoor blips.

During recent de-cluttering I found a file which must be nearly 20 years old. At the time I was Head of the Rural Studies department at a local school. The new Headmaster decided that a change of image was required. One of the things he aimed for was to have a more welcoming and better entrance to the reception area.

I drew up a scheme for planting containers. I say containers but having a works in the catchment area who produced sections of concrete pipe for sewers, inspection manholes and the like we actually used those. Varying in diameter from2 foot 6 inches up to 4 feet. They were positioned by my stockman using the tractor and some interesting pushing techniques with the large tyres.

What I had found was my original plans for the scheme so I thought that before they went the way of all things which were "past their sell by date" (so to speak) I would record it for posterity.
