Captain George Vancouver

I have blipped our famous son (of King's Lynn) a few times before but usually from the front with the old customs house as background. This afternoon we were treated to a colourful sunset so I thought a contre jour effect might suit the scene. It could have been a silhouette, but the captain's coat does have some good texture which I decided to reveal. The usual chains and anchors are scattered round. The left hand holds a telescope and the right scrolled up charts.

For those welcoming a bit of history he was an explorer and charted the west coast of America in the late 1700s.
