The Walk through the Woods
We went a walk through the woods late this afternoon and the light was beautifully clear.
These woods were created by Humphrey Repton in 1794 and as Birmingham began to expand the open space was designated "The People's Park" in 1906 when the owner of Chance's Glassworks set up a committee to save the land which was purchased by public subscription as a Birmingham Park although it was never officially within the City boundaries.
Over the last few years the park has been saved again by the Warley Woods Trust and is now a well-used space surrounded by housing and including a small golf course. It is a lovely place. The Green lung of the area. Apparently my Mom and Dad did a lot of their courting here!
