Oxford Dictionary: “An expression of enthusiasm or exuberance, typically associated with cowboys of the southern US.” My annotation: An expression that, in the right circumstances, can also be associated with curlers, along with other spirited exclamations such as Hurry! Hard! Sweep! Whoa!

Curling with Frances, Wendy and Rhonda at the Dixie Hoe-Down Bonspiel was great. We came in second our first game and won our second. We have played in this spiel for a number of years and it is always lively and well-run. Many other teams also return year after year, including three or four from our Club, and it is a pleasure to play with old friends and new.

This brings an end to my three and a half week Canadian curling season, where I curled 20 games at four different clubs with hundreds of people. What fun!
