A funny thing happened
on the way to get a blip.
Monday is my day off, so I decided as the sun was shining to go for an early morning bike and blip ride. I did my usual route which takes me through country lanes and past some pretty lakes. All was going well, warm sunshine, bird song and some nice photos. Part of my ride takes me over a small river or ford as it crosses the road, this is about a foot deep and rather muddy, to the side are two raised planks of wood to allow people to cross the river. I have cycled over this many times in the past and decided to do so again today. However, what I hadn't considered was all the rain we have had lately and rain + wood = slipperiness.
I had no sooner got onto the little bridge when my front wheel slipped catapulting me and my bike head first into the water submerging us both. My first thought was Oh No my camera (I may have used stronger language) which I keep in a bag on my handlebars. I quickly pulled myself and the bike out of the water and checked my camera, luckily it was ok, the same could not be said for me and my bike. I had bashed my nose and knee and the handlebars on the bike were bent.
Fortunately the bike was still rideable so I managed to limp the 5 miles home, which seemed a lot longer when soaking wet. Maybe I should have gone with my first thought of the day and stayed under the duvet.
So blippers always remember to push your bikes over slippery bridges.
Hope you have had a good Monday, thankfully I am back to work tomorrow.
