The Bomb

I've passed this local land mark many times at Middleton between Pickering and Helmsley in North Yorkshire.
I thought it could have been found in a farmers field after being dropped by a bomber aircraft coming back from a mission in World War Two.

The story has it, it's a naval shell brought back to the village from the First World War by a naval officer as a monument to the Great War.
