St Patricks's

Went to Valletta to watch a parade for the Irish. It wasn't that impressive but there was lots of interesting characters about, like these guys, and the first live music I'd seen in ages. We did some daytime drinking in the sun and it gave me a festival feeling.

Afterwards in a sleepy haze I headed off to visit Vittoriosa (Birgu), one of the three cities of Malta. They are old fortified cities, poking out like fingers towards Valletta, which seem to have avoided the modernisation of the main areas of Malta. It was a very beautiful and peaceful place to wander about, and I will certainly return.
