On The East Pier
Took Lola for a walk on the pier again, about half way, then turned back when I saw a brooding shelf of slate cloud over Dún Laoghaire. I stepped behind the wall, among the boulders, looking for odd stuff that might be washed up, and these kids came along. I am wary of photographing other peoples' children, but the dad was easy about it and his little girl was throwing some interesting shapes, utterly spontaneous and refreshingly odd, abruptly lying down stiff as a board, as if to test the solidity of the granite: children can be wonderful that way. Within seconds she was up and off somewhere else, never completely still (which is why her face is slightly blurred).
