You should see the other guy.
I know that I alluded to it yesterday, but It's been such a slow day I thought I'd share some more of it today.
The ranger-led beached bird survey was quite a tough gig. Quite apart from the speed-walk on the beach, headlong into a stiff breeze, to get to the rendezvous on time(ish), it must be a good few miles from Newark to Lopness across some tricky old terrain in the inter-tidal or littoral zone. All the time trying to spot anything interesting, suspicious or feathery and dead among the regular detritus of a beach. I am told that the water quality has improved much over the years so I was hoping for nil results. Alas! We found some remains.
This, apparently, was a guillemot once upon a recent time. It is gruesome enough for Gail not to want it in the house.
Guess what?
