Out with the old & in with the new
Technology companies sometimes seem to make odd decisions. On the left we have the Blackberry 9000 series, the bastion of corporate mobile communications - mainly because they have been very cheap to 'run', particularly for email due to the use of in- house business Blackberry enterprise servers. However recently someone at Blackberry decided that they were losing market share to 'touch screen' based smartphones like iPhone and Android system based phones like the Samsung S4 pictured here. The problem was that one of the casualties in the introduction of 'touch screen' based Blackberries is the economical enterprise server.
So what has been the outcome for Blackberry? Well business people looking for new smart phones have simply said: why bother with a touch screen Blackberry when I could simply have an iPhone or a Samsung - just like we have just done - a guaranteed loss of market share for Blackberry - exactly the tide they have been trying to stem - go figure!
(with profound apologies to all the technophobes out there!)
