DIGITAL THINKING DAY TWO #DIGITALCADRE
[As part of a programme I’m taking part in on digital leadership and the public sector, my group has decided to do three blogs using Blipfoto to reflect on our digital thinking and insights – each of us doing it over three days. By it’s nature it will be focussed on leadership so forgive the language! The idea is we will pull of the blogs and pictures together for a presentation to the main group next week.]
Another really interesting work day, starting off with a visit to the HQ of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The conversation was varied, but had some really interesting digital elements – including how you can use technology to engage young people in the outdoors.
In Lomond Shores, we were really impressed at how technology was being used to connect visitors to what was happening in the National Park, and to encourage them to do and see even more. Particularly impressive was a giant “touch screen”, where you could navigate around all the news and activities; find things to do; accommodation; meals and events. Even better, you could use QR codes (which people are forever predicting the death of) to save or share the information on social media like Facebook and Twitter.
It was lots of fun to play with – but also genuinely useful. Not a gimmick at all, which these things can often be.
I did take a fair few pictures of it for this blip, but in the end, the view from the platform looking out over the loch was simply too lovely to make it! :)
