Was s/he tamed?
Not a very good image I'm afraid but it had to be done really quickly. I took my Y12 group to see a young person's production by a Royal Shakespeare Company touring group of "The Taming of the Shrew". They changed the venue last Thursday so getting there was a bit of a challenge but we managed that. THEN all the female parts were played by men and all the female parts were played by women! It certainly challenged the stereotyping and misogynism of the audience but I just hope my group don't start writing about Katherina's mother wanting to get her married off when really the play is concerned with the role of the Elizabethan father with regard to the marriage of his daughters!
This was taken during the Q and A session at the end when we were all having to chant interesting words from one of the scenes.
It will be interesting to see what the class have to say about it tomorrow.
