Today's The Day

It is upon us.

Last year I was considering standing down as Chairman of the Royal Naval Association and contemplating parting a gift.
In a flash of inspiration I thought of Freedom of the Town, this would require some help from the Mayor and the Town Council. Initially I kept my own counsel as these things have a habit of 'leaking'. The Mayor, Geoffrey Evans, when I approached him during his Civic Service was all for it so things proceeded. The whole thing then gathered a momentum of its own.
So today is the culmination of it all,
I have chosen a photograph of me with a half pint, the Freedom Scroll is on the floor leaning against the bar after all it was my idea!
