Dango Mushi

So this is a dango mushi. wikipedia says they are eaten all year round.

Mushi means bug.

Of course you and I know it's actually Armadillidium vulgare or the common pill bug. I never saw these in the UK. I saw lots of woodlice but they don't roll up in a ball and weren't really funny in Pixar's Bugs Life.

It's three shots stitched together. The middle one lost out to the incredibly shallow depth of field but as it is in transition I thought it was OK.

I have now returned my model to underneath the potted rose bush, I hope he wasn't too traumatized by his studio session.
