Hello Gandhi.....

....Hello Johnny.

The last place I expected to see the Mahatma was Saughton Park in Edinburgh but he welcomes visitors to the hothouse in the Gardens there.

The Scottish National Exhibition was held around here in 1908. it was a sort of wee Great Exhibition celebrating all that was best in Arts, Science, Industry etc.
It ran from May to October and was visited by 3.5 million folk.

They had a big fairground including elephants and a "House of Troubles" which turns out not to have been the Help tent but a sort of wonky building - for the kids ye ken?

Mr Kite would have been there with his trampolines and fire eaters no doubt.

I think there is still an After the Show atmosphere about the place. It's quite eerie at this time of year.
