Great Egret

Unlike yesterday's smaller egret, this one is quite a big bird (at least 2.5 times the height of the little one from yesterday). Though, just like any of the birds I have been seeing on the beaches here in Florida, this one calmly posed for me even as I squatted just a few feet from him/her. I know that they are used to people... but it still surprises me to be able to get so near a wild bird like that...

What a busy day! It started at 6:30 am and I'm just finding a second to blip at 10:00 pm. It was a good kind of busy, but I'm fairly sure that if my head hit a pillow right now, I'd be asleep in seconds. Hmmm, I may just go try that...
