Bug on a Marigold

My efforts to identify this bug have been fruitless. It's the wrong shape for a green vegetable bug and it's far too big to be an aphis. It could be the young of something because it had a soft, fleshy body and a hint of wing cases that were undeveloped. The grey droplet is not water. The bug did it.

If you look at it in large you'll see the hair on its legs.
