Girton Parish Church.

The Parish Church of Girton has been dedicated to St Andrew since at least 1240 and was largely rebuilt in the 15th & 16th centuries. It probably dates from Saxon times and the earliest artifact is a Saxon Altar stone. It's history starts in 992 and people have worshipped on this site for well over 1,000 years. Light brown in tone with mortared pebble walls, crenalated parapets and Gothic style windows. Today I was at the nearby recreation centre in Girton and since the lime trees were recently cut down, there is a spendid uninterrupted view of this lovely old church. I think the trees needed to come down, they were very old.
