Box of Memories

Kind of a more personal counterpart to yesterday's demolished cinema shot.

Ann's dad passed away when she was a young child and some years ago her mum gave us a box of his old cine films from before Ann was born. Sad to say, we never knew quite what to do with them, so the box gathered dust in the garage. Then recently Ann found a local company who can convert old cine film to DVD, so this afternoon I blew the dust off and had a proper look at them before getting in touch with the conversion company.

Even without seeing the films themselves, just seeing the packaging transports you to a bygone era. Really looking forward to getting them onto DVD in time for Ann's mum's 80th birthday later this year – it will be a nice surprise I hope.

I almost did this as a black-and-white shot but the vibrant colours of the 50-year-old packaging stood the test of time so well it had to be colour.
