Oyster

A somewhat alpha male baboon type accused me of always" keeping the grit in the oyster" today at work. It was meant to be a real put down in how it was said, but I sort of disarmed him by taking it as a huge compliment!

No chance for outside air or camera today, and the above made me think of one of my favourite little travel trinkets. Its a little copper oyster shell that you have to take the lid off to see the pearls. I bought it in Boston Harbour 5 years ago after an awesome whale watching trip when I was massively proud of myself for managing 6 hours in open sea without feeling sick due to fantastic sea sickness pills given to you for 1 dollar when you got on board! We were lucky enough to find the whales in a feeding frenzy which meant they were also being followed by loads of dolphins and we were all fantastically drenched by the whales jumping so high and slapping down all around us for miles. Got off the boat and had two pints of lager and the best scampi and chips ever sitting on my own in the harbour sunshine....then realised I felt pretty drunk....the magic sea sickness pills! Later that night I went to see Diana Ross in concert with just about the whole gay population of Boston I think....such a laugh. So this little shell is a tiny souvenir of a very special day.
