Its the hippest new wine bar in Sydney (Surry Hills) and specialises in biodynamic wines from Italy.
Named after the best ever vintage year for Falerian wine, this wine was grown on the slopes of Mt. Falernus near the border of Latium and Campania, where it became the most renowned wine produced in ancient Rome. Considered a cult wine for its time, it was often mentioned in Roman literature, but has since disappeared.
As part of the ruins of ancient Pompeii, a price list on the wall of a bar establishment notes
For one "as" you can drink wine
For two you can drink the best
For four you can drink Falernian.
Along with some delicious small plates we had a few glasses of first rate Italian wines - all different and very interesting. This is a Terpin Pinot Grigio (with skins on - hence the colour) from Friuli (north eastern Italy).
Recommended! Yes indeedy!
