To Put Out More Flags
Here is our national flag, flying proudly outside the Post Office in the middle of the Town of Ramsey. Just at the moment I arrived the wind decided to become light and variable.
Rest assured the wind has since brewed up in to a full Irish Sea gale.
The device on the flag is called a triskelion. There are three legs with rotational symmetry and this can be coupled with the Manx motto "Quocunque jeceris stabit"
This can be translated as which ever way you throw me I will always stand
The origin of the trikelion is somewhat obscure but there are those who would be able to recognise a somewhat similar Germanic device.
It is nearly at half-mast but I know of no obvious reason why that should be.
