Skunk cabbage

Also known as "stink lily". When I first saw these growing in a wild, wet part of a friend's garden I thought they looked really alien to their environment, a bit evil and "triffid" like. The are such a bright yellow and so large. The yellow bit is about the size of a kitchen roll. They have just started to come out so I must try to get a proper photo of them. This was just snapped through the fence.
Apparently they smell very nasty and are possibly poisonous.
