One of the Globes atop the Kelvin Hall
Kelvin Hall, and her sister building across the road (Kelvingrove Art gallery and museum) are great examples of Glasgow architecture.
Opened in 1927 Kelvin Hall was designed to house large exhibitions but has had a varied and interesting life including:
Barrage balloon factory, hosting Modern homes and Motor shows as well as Billy Graham's crusade, Jim Watt winning the world lightweight boxing title, many music concerts including Jerry Lee Lewis and Mike Oldfield.
Also staged were curling and more recently it was the home of the Scottish Athletics International indoor arena.
Part of the building was also used for the Transport museum, which is now to be found located within the new Riverside museum
